Salahuddin, cousin of the PTI leader, presented Sher Afzal Marwat with his nomination papers.

In the by-elections held in October 2022, PTI founder Imran Khan defeated ANP candidate Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who was backed by the PDM, with a total of over 32,000 votes in NA-32 (now NA-31).

In other news, Noor Alam Khan, who had previously served as chairman of the PAC, switched allegiances on Saturday to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

In a joint press conference with JUI-F Provincial Amir Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman, the former member of the National Assembly made his decision to join the party official during a news conference in Peshawar.

Khan spoke highly of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s leadership abilities, expressing his undying faith in the JUI-F chief’s guidance.

Khan reflected on the timing of his move and said, “There was a delay, otherwise I would have joined JUI earlier.”Further, he spoke out against the May 9 riots, calling them shameful, and reiterated his long-standing stance against them, stating that he disagrees with the mentality that causes them.

He said, “Everyone protests, but institutions should not be targeted.” This was in reference to the events of May 9.
According to him, “We are not slaves and will work against any actions that undermine the unity of Pakistan.” This statement further emphasises his determination to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty regardless of his political membership.
