Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated on Monday that PTI founder Imran Khan ought not to be incarcerated if he is innocent.
“If Khan Sahab is innocent then he should not be in jail, but if he is guilty then he should stay imprisoned.”
Bilawal addressed the present political atmosphere in the nation and remarked, “What is happening now is not that bad, much worse has happened in the past” when speaking to the media during the hearing of the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto presidential référence.
The PPP would prefer to hear ZAB’s case before the general elections, according to the ex-minister of foreign affairs. He expressed the wish for a judgment to be made before the elections and mentioned that the PPP had hoped for a consistent presidency of the case at first, but now they are hoping for a ruling soon after the polls.
The head of the PPP expressed his desire for a fair resolution to this matter and the rewriting of history.
According to the PPP scion, “no matter what” the speculations about the new election date are true, and the polls will be held on February 8.
“Are the words of three or four senators more powerful than the constitutional and legal decision of the chief justice?” he asked, alluding to the resolution that fourteen senators had approved on January 5.
In response to a journalist’s question, Bilawal stated that the PPP has brought about development in Karachi. “The PPP has never before won elections in both Karachi and the local body.”
The party, he continued, has defeated the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and won seats in a number of Multan districts. “We are confident that the people of Karachi will give the PPP an opportunity, and that the people’s party will form the federal government, the provincial government of Sindh, and the local body of Karachi for the first time.”
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was assigned the electoral cricket emblem “bat” due to the widespread love of the sport in Pakistan, according to Bilawal, who was discussing the ‘foreign influence’ on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The head of the PPP party said in response to a query that whenever the PPP was the target of false accusations, Imran would claim that the relevant institutions were autonomous and responsible for providing explanations. “Now Khan Sahab ought to also contact these establishments.”
He went on to say that the PTI founder was going through the same struggles he had in the past. “It is wrong to put people in jail and make cases against them, but this practice was started by Khan sahab himself,” he stated, going on to say that he should repent before such practices are eliminated.
The party chairman remarked that things were worse in the past in response to a query about the influence of the establishment in politics. In addition, he mentioned that the rejection of nomination papers caused quite a stir. “If you look at previous elections, this is not a new thing,” he told reporters.
