ISLAMABAD: According to Express News, PTI founder head Imran Khan allegedly ordered senior vice chairman Sher Afzal Marwat to halt all political activity on Wednesday due to ongoing differences between Marwat and party leaders.
Marwat has been instructed by Imran to return to Islamabad and put an end to any political activities until further notice.
The PTI leader made a surprising move the day before, announcing that he would postpone the Sindh polls campaign after being “attacked” by party officials Raoof Hasan and Hamid Khan, but then reversed his decision and said that the campaign would go on as planned. Now comes the instruction.
Marwat warned the PTI members to “deal [with] all the satanic forces” independently and promised not to get sidetracked in a post he made on the social media site X. Marwat said on Sunday that he was canceling the PTI’s Sindh election campaign in response to the remarks made by “sick-minded people” such as Hamid and Hasan.
“Why are these individuals picking on me? Has anyone ever heard me criticize them? I am filled with despair and discouragement. He announced the cancellation of all events and programs on X after being assaulted by top members of his own party. Today, we were meant to have conventions in Sanghar and Nawabshah.
But his previous statement about PTI president Arif Alvi being a “wrong number” holds water. His claims that he had rejected Alvi’s son’s application for a PTI ticket surfaced in social media videos. Marwat said Alvi had “conspired” to derail the celebration.
Raoof Hasan, a member of the PTI, responded to this claim the day before by saying that Marwat did not represent the party’s stance and had no position inside it in an interview with a private TV news channel. He went on to say that PTI members “did not own” what Marwat said.
Hasan further stated that the former prime minister was only allowed to see his legal team, sisters, and wife while in prison, therefore disproving the claim that Marwat visited with Imran. His main point was that the PTI’s founding chairman had refused to meet with any of the party’s senior leaders.
Also, Hamid Khan of the PTI insisted in a video that went viral that he had never seen Marwat before. He continued by saying that Marwat was not speaking for the party, echoing Hasan’s earlier statement.
Hamid further stated that the PTI was not involved in any internal issues and added that two or three disgruntled party members were attempting to sow discord. While speaking to reporters outside of Adiala Jail, PTI veteran Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made it clear that Marwat was still an active party member.
According to him, Marwat will run for office from Lakki Marwat and win. As he revealed that the candidates’ names will soon be finalised, Gohar asked PTI members to put aside their differences. Admitting that problems still existed inside the PTI, he justified them by saying that party strife is normal in any democracy.
