The senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz, denied on Friday that she was involved in retaliatory politics against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She asked the accusers if her party had instigated the May 9 attack on the state or waved a cipher at a rally.
According to Maryam, who was responding to accusations made by the leadership of the former ruling party PTI, “Those who are hurling allegations of revenge and a level playing field at us should tell, was it Nawaz Sharif who told you to wave the cypher, attack the state on May 9, attack policemen, hold fake intra-party elections, or set fire to the memorials of martyrs?” This was stated during her address at a rally in Khanewal.
Imran had waved a piece of paper at a public rally on March 27, 2022, before a vote of confidence, which he lost, and this is the case involving the cypher.
The former prime minister had asserted that the cipher was “proof” of a “international conspiracy” to depose his administration, and he had later implicated the United States.
In response to worries over growing prices, Maryam denied that the PML-N’s popularity had been eroded by the economy and said that no other political party was now able to pose a serious threat to the PML-N.
She went on to say, “I faced arrest, learned of my mother’s death in jail, and spent years in jail, yet I did not let my father’s head bow down.” She was recounting her personal experiences when she made her statement.
Maryam stated that her father, the late Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was able to return to power thanks to the unfaltering backing of the people, particularly in Khanewal. She went on to say, “True leaders and political workers never retreat but remain on the front lines like tigers.” She went on to say that ups and downs are elements of politics.
Gratitude was her expression as she proclaimed, “I salute the commitment of our party workers who have stood firm in the face of challenges.”
