Outrage and anger have been generated by a recent statement made by PML-N Secretary of Information Marriyum Aurangzeb. The speech highlights the harsh and divisive discourse that continues to dominate the political landscape of the country.

In a press conference, Marriyum stated that 2014 should have seen the decapitation of PTI founder Imran Khan and the party’s members.

“This fitna ought to have been addressed when the Chinese president arrived in Pakistan. The PML-N leader can be seen in video recordings that internet users have shared. “His head should have been beheaded.”

Imran Khan and PTI party members ought to have been executed in 2014, according to Maryam Aurangzeb of the PNLM party, as hostilities in Pakistan escalate.

Senior journalist Kamran Yousaf used X to voice his disgust with Marriyum’s remarks and to underline that violent rhetoric has no place in political debate. He encouraged people to voice their thoughts without using such divisive words.

Social media pundit Imran Afzal Raja also condemned the comments, calling the PML-N a “terrorist party” and raising ethical concerns about supporting violence against political opponents.

Another outspoken opponent of Marriyum’s remarks, Mehr Tarar, criticised the PML-N’s leadership for spreading a story of “brutal vengeance.” Her assertion that such discourse constitutes a moral and political setback for the party underscores the necessity of positive communication and interaction.

The harsh retribution narrative of the PMLN leadership is embodied by Marriyum Aurangzeb. The most outspoken member of the PMLN leadership, Maryam Nawaz, also known as Imran Khan’s “fitna,” has frequently called for the total eradication of Imran Khan’s fitna and the harshest penalties possible for his followers.

Foreign commentators also joined in on the dispute; American journalist Ryan Grim called attention to how concerning the remarks were. He emphasised that political parties should avoid inciting violence and instead concentrate on positive policy solutions.
