The leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, cautioned the establishment on Thursday not to go beyond its bounds and advised it to do so, according to Express News.
“No institution’s domination over us can be forced upon us. Speaking at a party gathering in Lahore, Fazl urged his audience, “Let us continue to be a nation based on ethics and intelligence.”
“We do not submit to the supremacy of any institution,” Fazl declared, seemingly referring to the military establishment. Thus, do not exceed your bounds.”
“The establishment needs to pay attention. This is the voice of our party, together with Fazlur Rehman.
According to Fazl, voters in rural and village regions are frequently coerced into supporting particular candidates against their choice. “Our party is frequently asked to remove one of our candidates for another, and our candidates are also asked for money. He warned, “There will be no refuge for you if we present evidence.”
“Unfortunately, I see this country heading towards the situation in Bengal; the Parliament is merely a symbolic institution, and democracy is losing its ground,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, expressing concern over the state of democracy.
“We are fighting against those who declare democracy as infidelity, but we are being cornered,” he said, challenging those who characterize their fight as an opposition to democracy. Parliament will become irrelevant if it is still established by manipulation.”
The leader of JUI-F emphasized their commitment to the definition of democracy provided by prominent religious thinkers and questioned the departure from these standards.
“The Parliament is being brought into existence according to Western interests; do not expect anything from the rulers; they have buried their dignity before their demise,” he said.
After its acts in Afghanistan and Palestine, he questioned America’s legitimacy as a human rights advocate.
“Our manifesto states that we become the voice of the oppressed; I told Shehbaz Sharif, join the opposition, lest you become a target of our movement,” he continued.
He said in closing that the establishment, not other political parties, had rigged their mandate.
