KARACHI: Former Federal Minister Faisal Vawda expressed doubts about Ali Amin Gandapur, the recently elected Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and hinted that he would not serve out his term. After Ramazan, Vawda sees difficulties for the PTI government in K-P, pointing out doubts about its viability.
Speaking to the media following his submission of his nomination documents to the Sindh Election Commission in Karachi, Vawda stated that the political environment at the moment is favourable for independent candidates. He made it clear that he was independent of all political parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), by saying, “I have previously served as a Member of the National Assembly, Federal Minister, and Senator at a young age, before stepping down,”
Vawda expressed optimism for the forthcoming election and stressed that Allah is ultimately responsible for success. He gave an explanation for his choice to run on his own, stating that prior general elections had precluded him from participating due to personal obligations. Although he acknowledged the ambiguity surrounding the lifespan of the current government, he reiterated the Senate seats’ six-year term length.
Vawda declared that a government on the moon may be formed by the Sunni Itehhad Council. He pleaded with the current administration to resolve the nation’s crisis.
He claimed that being kicked out of the party was a direct result of telling it like it is, showing compassion for the everyday people, and asking the PTI leadership to put more effort into serious concerns rather than showy politics.
In response to queries, Vawda expressed willingness to have discussions with different political leaders and said that he had met Asif Ali Zardari more than once. He disparaged Punjab’s provincial government, making fun of the way jobs are distributed and painting the Chief Minister’s activities as flimsy. With regard to the impending elections, Vawda is presenting himself as an alternative to established party affiliations by emphasising his critical attitude on the state of politics.
