Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, the previous speaker of the provincial assembly, introduced the resolution.
The House sought the immediate release of the PTI founding chairman, his wife, and other party activists, citing the federal government’s filing of “false cases” against them.

The resolution also called for the release of the CCTV footage from that fateful May 9th, 2018, and a judicial investigation into the violence that occurred on that day.

None of the opposing legislators were in the House when the resolution was brought up for discussion.

No legislator opposed the resolution when the speaker asked the assembled lawmakers what they thought of it.

The resolution was then approved by a unanimous vote.

The K-P Assembly was called to order without the signature of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on the summary.

According to K-P Law Minister Aftab Alam, the provincial administration chose its own constitutional route and 38 House members filed a requisition for the session after waiting for the governor to sign the summary for three days.

The province administration and the governor are at odds, and things are likely to get worse over the next few days.
