The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised serious worries about Imran Khan’s health and medical care, saying that they are deeply worried about his well-being. Khan is the founding chairman of the PTI and a former prime minister of Pakistan.
The party has asked why one of the country’s most important leaders wasn’t given access to medical services.
In a statement shared on social media, the PTI criticised the Adiala Jail staff for reportedly disobeying court orders and repeatedly refusing to give Imran Khan medical care, whom they say is being held illegally.
They asked why the present regime, which is said to have the support of the establishment, keeps blocking Imran Khan’s legal right to medical care and medical tests that he needs, like blood work.
The party also gave a copy of an application from April 10, 2024, asking the court to enforce a court order for a full medical exam and blood tests from Shaukat Khanum Hospital, as Dr. Asim Yousaf had suggested during an earlier medical assessment.
According to the plea that Imran Khan’s lawyers gave to the judge of the accountability court, they stressed how much he had done for the country over the years and how important it was to get the blood tests done right away.
The leaders of the PTI made it clear that any delay in these tests could put Khan’s health at great risk, especially since he is being held in jail on what they called “fake and bogus cases” brought by political opponents.
In addition, the application said that the person needed to be examined by Dr. Kashif Iqbal Malik, an ENT expert, to address certain medical concerns. They asked the court to tell the jail superintendent to quickly get Dr. Faisal Sultan of Shaukat Khanum Hospital to take blood samples and Dr. Kashif Iqbal Malik to do an ENT checkup, stressing how important it was to act quickly.
