Here is a short summary of what Iran’s constitution says should happen if the president gets sick or dies while in office:

Article 131 of the Islamic Republic’s constitution says that if the president dies while in office, the first vice president takes over, as long as the supreme leader agrees. The supreme leader has the final say on all state issues.

Within 50 days, an election for a new president must be set up by a council made up of the first vice president, the speaker of parliament, and the head of the courts.

It was Raisi who was chosen president in 2021, and the next election for president is set for 2025.
