Including a sales tax on petroleum products and revised income tax slabs for high-paid employees, it is anticipated that tax increases and the elimination of unnecessary exemptions will be included in the upcoming federal budget for 2024–2025.

As indicated by reports, Rs2.1 trillion is apportioned for guard and Rs9.7 trillion for obligation overhauling. Advancement tasks will get Rs1.5 trillion, the energy area Rs253 billion, and foundation Rs827 billion.

Subsidies for energy amount to Rs800 billion, water resources to Rs206 billion, and transportation and communications to Rs279 billion in the budget. The Gross domestic product development target is 3.6%, with the FBR entrusted to gather Rs12.97 trillion in charges, up by Rs3.72 trillion from this year. Customs duties and direct taxes are expected to rise by Rs267 billion and Rs3.45 trillion, respectively.

According to official sources, Finance Czar Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the Rs18 trillion federal budget for the fiscal year 2024–25 in the National Assembly on Wednesday (today). The budget will focus on fiscal consolidation to reduce the deficit.
