ISLAMABAD:
In accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines, the electronic media were permitted to report court proceedings by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
IHC Boss Equity Aamer Farooq heard the petitions of Islamabad High Court Writers Affiliation, Press Relationship of High Court and PFUJ against the notice gave by PEMRA forcing a restriction on court revealing.
On behalf of the petitioners, High Court Bar President Ali Azad and Adil Aziz Qazi appeared in court.
Read PEMRA’s notification regarding the challenged court reporting in the LHC. The PEMRA counsel urged the court to postpone the hearing without proceeding, claiming that the senior case lawyer was busy in the Supreme Court.
The court, in any case, saw that the electronic media could report procedures according to the SC rules.
The court then granted PEMRA’s request and postponed the hearing until the first week of July.
