Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad on energy sector reforms, the prime minister said that during the three months of July, August, and September, 25 million consumers—or 94% of all domestic users—will benefit from the subsidies.

According to PM Shehbaz, the cost of power will vary between Rs4 and Rs7 per unit under the plan. K-Electric customers will also be eligible for this subsidy. He said that the development budget would provide the funding for this project.

The measure, according to the premier, intends to lessen the burden that growing electricity rates are placing on the average person. He pointed out that although homeowners find the summer months especially difficult, from October onwards, electricity use usually declines as temperatures drop.

The prime minister gave his word that the coalition government is determined to work together to overcome any obstacle. He emphasized the need to combat corruption, saying that there is no other practical approach to deal with Pakistan’s economic problems.
