The Department has prolonged until August 15 the alert period during which there is a high probability of a forest fire. All of the division’s forests will be under a state of emergency until this date, and field personnel will be stationed there. The woodlands’ security has also been strengthened.

According to Divisional Forest Officer Saqib Mahmood Sheikh, “the Rawalpindi division is planting a record number of trees this year.” The military, police, and other government institutions are receiving all varieties of saplings at no cost, and temporary nurseries have been set up where the general public may buy seedlings for Rs. 10 to Rs. 12 each.

This year, all government schools, colleges, and universities are also planting seedlings. Students are participating in the tree planting initiative as part of the “One Student, One Plant” campaign.

Additionally, saplings will be planted in Rawalpindi by the side of the highways. Protecting the just sown plants is a rigorous instruction given to all staff members and institutions. The plants that are planted in the institutions will still be observed and examined by the Forest Department.
