ISLAMBAD:
With nearly all preparations completed, the New Gwadar International Airport is expected to open on August 14.
The soft launch of this significant project is likely to be overseen by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
A landmark event for the region will take place when a unique Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight departing from Karachi is the first to land at the New Gwadar International Airport.
The airport has runways built to international standards and is capable of accommodating large aircraft like the Airbus A380. It was built at an estimated cost of Rs54.98 billion.
The Gwadar International Airport is an important part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and a big step forward for China and Pakistan’s cooperation. As per sources, the Common Flight Authority has built the air terminal in organization with Chinese specialists.
Presently, just four percent of the functional area stays fragmented. By December 2025, it is anticipated that other airport-related development projects will be finished.
As a crucial piece of infrastructure for Pakistan’s expanding aviation industry, the New Gwadar International Airport is expected to improve economic growth and connectivity in the region.
