SUDAN:
Blue Nile State in southeastern Sudan was the target of an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to reports from the Sudanese Army.
The attack on Guli was stopped, according to the army, by Forth Infantry Division forces.
In addition, the army neutralized dozens of RSF fighters and seized RSF equipment.
Blue Nile State joins 13 of Sudan’s 18 states that are currently experiencing direct violence.
In April 2023, disagreements regarding the RSF’s integration into the army led Army Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo to start a war in Sudan.
Nearly 16,000 people have been killed in the fighting, and millions of people have been displaced as a result.
On March 29, Sudan complained to the UN Security Council that the United Arab Emirates were supporting the RSF, a claim that the UAE denies.
