ISLAMABAD: On Friday, an accountability court in Islamabad ruled that ads be put out to call the co-accused of former premier Imran Khan in the £190 million corruption case.

Former prime minister Imran Khan is one of the main suspects in the case. Other suspects include Shahzad Akbar, who used to be the accountability leader, Zulfiqar Bukhari, who used to be the premier’s aide, Zia Mustafa, and Farah Shazadi, also known as Farah Gogi.

Under Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the court also said that the ads had to be put up outside of the homes of the other people charged.

The investigation officer’s (IO) report said that the accused slowed down the investigation by not following the rules, and the IO also recorded his statement in court. The hearing was then put off until January 6, 2024, by Judge Muhammad Bashir.

NAB brought a £190 million corruption case in the accountability court against Imran, his wife Bushra Bibi, a close family friend Farah Gogi, and other people earlier on December 1.

The case against eight suspects was sent to the court’s Registrar’s Office by NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi and IO Mian Umar Nadeem. The other people charged are named in the source as Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari, and Barrister Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. Along with the documents, arrest warrants for the suspects and a list of 59 witnesses were sent in.
