ISLAMABAD—At a sitting of the National Assembly, it was disclosed that the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) underwent a record increase in its losses when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was in power.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, the Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation, stated during the meeting that “Ghulam Sarwar Khan is not present… ” The meeting was presided over by Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. I don’t want to talk about it, but the PIA took a significant amount of damage as a result of his “dumb words.”

According to Rafique, “The former federal minister overstated the issue of false degrees and licences of pilots,” which is what led to the ban on Pakistani flights across the entirety of Europe.

According to what he claimed, “Big ministries were handed to those who don’t work.” The stupid words made by Ghulam Sarwar Khan caused significant harm to the country.

The Ministry of Aviation provided specifics of PIA’s losses during the meeting that took place.

According to the officials, the PIA saw a loss of 295 million rupees between the months of August and December in 2018, while in 2019, the airline experienced a loss of 526 million rupees.

According to the documents, PIA incurred a loss of 346 million rupees in 2020, while the company’s losses in 2021 were 501 million rupees.

The total amount that PIA has lost thus far has reached 1,667 million rupees.

During his speech on the motion for a point of order, MNA Mohsin Dawar pleaded with the speaker to refer his situation to the Privilege Committee since one of his fundamental rights had been violated.

In spite of the fact that his name had been removed from the “no-fly list” by the federal government on October 17, he was not authorised to go to Tajikistan in order to take part in the Heart Security Dialogue for no discernible reason, as he informed the house of representatives.

He stated that his party was in favour of the ‘no-trust motion’ because it was clear that the administration of PTI head Imran Khan was not giving civilian supremacy the attention it deserved.

He voiced the expectation that the current government would defend the civilian supremacy in the country, citing the fact that political parties had made significant sacrifices for the sake of restoring and establishing democracy in the nation.

Shazia Marri, the Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, has also expressed a great deal of concern on the situation involving her respective colleague Dawar.

The topic of National Democratic Movement’s Dawar being detained at Islamabad International Airport has been referred to the Privilege Committee by Speaker Ashraf.

Marri expressed gratitude to the NA speaker for referring the matter raised by Dawar to the Privilege Committee.

Saira Bano, a representative for the Grand Democratic Alliance, stated that she had no choice but to denounce the language that was used by the head of the JUI-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, because “this kind of language is not proper.”

Sheikh Rohail Asghar, a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, had the following response: “I don’t think Maulana has stated anything incorrect. Where were all the women in the room when the former minister of the federal government was talking about women?

“Maulana went over what had been talked about in the previous meetings. Is it part of our tradition that our daughters should conduct themselves in such a manner at the meetings?

Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Minister of Religious Affairs, provided a response to what Saira Bano said, stating, “we surely value women.”

“The employees of the PTI misconstrued the statements spoken by Maulana Sahib. PTI ladies are held in high regard by us. However, I strongly disagree with the conduct of the PTI employees during the sessions.

Saira called attention to the quorum, and after counting the attendees, it was determined that the quorum was not met; hence, the meeting was postponed till today at 11 a.m. (Friday).
