Ahsan Iqbal, the minister of planning, has linked the advancement of the country with the participation of women. A task force will be constituted for women.
ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated on Friday that the government will create a task force at the national level to protect women.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, he made the statement (GBV).
Dr. Shaista Sohail, executive director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Alina Kamal, vice chancellor of Rawalpindi Women University (RWU), students, and activists from civil society attended the ceremony.
On November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the 16-day campaign was launched.
In order to ensure that the gender perspective would be taken into account in all policies developed under the aegis of the Planning Commission, the ministry also established the Gender Unit.
Ahsan Iqbal stated that “No country can advance without the active engagement of women,” using China and Bangladesh as examples. They made significant development progress as a result, he continued.
A brochure that raises awareness of violence against women and pro-women policies in Pakistan was also released by the minister.
Through HEC, the pamphlet will be distributed to all of Pakistan’s universities.
The minister regretted that because women did not have equal representation in the past, the nation could not advance.
The minister noted that there were more female students enrolled than male students, which was encouraging.
In Pakistan, 40% of women have experienced cyberbullying in the form of sexual harassment, blackmail, hate speech, stalking, identity theft, and violent threats, according to a recent study by the Digital Rights Foundation.
Although recent high-profile incidents demonstrate that women in elite and educated circles also suffer at the hands of educated and wealthy men, he noted that lack of education is directly related to violence against women.
In her remarks, RWU Vice Chancellor thanked the Planning Ministry for successfully completing this crucial campaign that assisted in raising public awareness.
She stated that RWU would keep working with the ministry to raise public awareness.
We are dedicated to the cause of educating women because we think it will help them fight gender-based violence and become economically independent.
