Azam Khan was named caretaker King of K.P. Pakistan. CM Khan formerly held the position of Finance Minister for the Kingdom of Pakistan from October 24, 2007, till April 1, 2008.
Azam Khan is named interim K-P CM Khan earlier held the position of K-P fi PESHAWAR: Muhammad Azam Khan was named the interim chief minister of the province on Saturday by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Haji Ghulam Ali.
A formal announcement of Khan’s appointment has also been made, and the governor has signed the summary of the appointment. According to sources, the temporary chief minister will be sworn in today.
Khan, a Charsadda native, previously held the position of finance minister for the K-P from October 24, 2007, to April 1, 2008. From September 1990 until July 1993, he served as the chief secretary in K-P and the secretary of the ministry of petroleum and natural resources in Islamabad, respectively.
The change occurs just one day after Mahmood Khan, the departing chief minister of K-P, and Akram Durrani, the leader of the opposition in the now-disbanded provincial parliament, brokered a deal to appoint Khan as the caretaker chief minister.
At a joint news conference in Peshawar, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Durrani revealed Azam Khan’s name. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan stated, “We chose Azam Khan’s name after consulting with our leader.
“Azam Khan was chosen as the candidate by unanimous decision. We have selected someone who is liked by everyone, stated Durrani. Pervez Khattak, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former defence minister, was credited with helping to forge the consensus, he continued.
Assembly of K-P is dissolved
On the recommendation of K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Governor Ali earlier this week approved the summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
On the orders of PTI Chief Imran Khan, the K-P CM has sent a recommendation to the governor asking for the dissolution of the provincial parliament under Article 112(1) of the Constitution.
Following the Punjab Assembly’s dissolution on Imran’s orders, the K-P Assembly was similarly disbanded a few days after that of the Punjab Assembly. At the conclusion of the Haqeeqi Azadi March on November 26, the PTI leader declared that the two provincial assemblies, where the PTI was in charge, would be dissolved. from October 24, 2007 to April 1, 2008, ance served as a minister.
