According to a concession statement released by Rashid Shafeeq, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s nephew, the president of the Awami Muslim League (AML), lost both of Rawalpindi’s National Assembly constituencies to independent candidates endorsed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In NA-56 and NA-57, Rawalpindi, Rashid reportedly acknowledged defeat, according to Shafeeq’s declaration. Noticembia Tahir and Shehryar Riaz were the recipients of his congratulations. “While we are disappointed by our loss, we take heart in the fact that the PML-N was also unsuccessful in the election for these seats,” he stated.
