Dr. Asim Hussain, a former federal minister for petroleum, stated in Karachi that he is 80 percent convinced that natural gas will not be available in Pakistan by the next year. He made this statement in response to a question.

“I predicted in 2012 that there would be no gas in the next 10 years if the policy is not implemented, and the same thing happened as I predicted, so now I’m 80% certain that there won’t be any gas starting next year,” the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said while talking to the media persons outside of the accountability court on Friday. The PPP leader was predicting that there would be no gas in the next 10 years if the policy was not implemented.

According to Asim, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif disclosed that the annual cost of energy is a total of $27 billion. “How are we going to come up with the money for this much? When I left the ministry, there were over four BCF (billion cubic feet) of natural gas accessible, and there are now almost 2.5 BCF; if it loses another billion, the remaining funds won’t be enough, so it’s important to keep an eye on the situation “he provided a caution.

He stated that the nation and the people require energy, adding that there had been no progress made in this respect in the past, and he feared that there would be no development made in the future as well.

Further, he stated, “I fear the country would have a terrible financial catastrophe in the future if it (cost) climbs from $27 billion by five to $10 billion.” This was in reference to the current price tag of $27 billion.
