RAWALPINDI: Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, a former federal minister, has said that he will run for office as an independent candidate in the upcoming general elections. He says that the country’s honor has been lost because of its leaders and politicians.

Mehtab quit as a top PML-N leader in February, saying that the party was ignoring workers and ignoring problems in the public.

On Friday, the former minister spoke at a workers’ gathering in Malkot and said, “Political parties have become political sects.” People in the country are getting even in the name of responsibility. By putting the heads of one party in jail, things will not get better.

For the sake of the young country, he begged people to vote for honest leaders and send them to parliament.
Mehtab said he hadn’t been involved in politics in real life for 10 years, but he couldn’t stay quiet after seeing how bad things were in the country.

“The economy of the country is in bad shape.” The normal person is going down. Pakistan has lost its honour because of its leaders. I’m not sitting at home; I’ve left home.”
