ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Chinese embassy and general consulates in Pakistan vehemently denounced the terrorist attack on the Dasu Hydropower Project workers in Besham, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and asked Pakistani authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the event and impose heavy penalties on those responsible.
Following the Besham suicide attack in the Upper Kohistan area that claimed the lives of six people, including five Chinese nationals, the embassy announced in a statement that its diplomatic mission in the nation had initiated an emergency plan and was taking all necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
Following their visit to the embassy in Islamabad to offer their condolences for the deaths of five Chinese nationals employed on the Dasu Hydropower Project in the afternoon suicide attack on the Karakorum Highway, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the statement.
The prime minister and interior minister gave assurances to the Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong and other officials during their discussions that the government would promptly launch a thorough investigation into the incident and hold those responsible and those who assisted them accountable.
Five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani national were killed in a terrorist attack that struck a Chinese company bus that was transporting employees for the Dasu Hydropower Project at around 1:00 pm, according to a statement from the Chinese embassy. The horror was sharply denounced by the embassy.
It stated that every attempt was being made by the Embassy and its general consulates in Pakistan to work with the Pakistani side to manage the repercussions. “Without delay, they have instituted an emergency plan, demanding that the Pakistani side conduct a comprehensive investigation into the attack and impose severe penalties on those responsible.”
It further stated that “all necessary measures are being taken by the Chinese embassy and consulates general in Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects in Pakistan, and to ensure such incidents will not happen again.”
In the statement, Chinese nationals and businesses in Pakistan were urged to monitor the security environment closely, bolster security alerts, fortify security measures, and take all reasonable safety precautions.
According to a news release from the prime minister’s office, Prime Minister Shehbaz visited the Chinese embassy to offer condolences for the terrorist incident that killed five Chinese people. He also promised Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong “a swift and high-level probe.”
According to a PM Office press release, the prime minister expressed his condolences to the Chinese president and premier during his meeting with Ambassador Jiang. He also expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased Chinese individuals.

Shehbaz said, “The adversaries of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor [CPEC] have attempted to sabotage it once more with such a shameful attempt, but they will never succeed in their nefarious objectives.
He also reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to keep up the war on terror until it is totally eradicated. Shehbaz stated that China and Pakistan “express firm resolve to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice” in a previous tweet.
According to a statement from his office, Interior Minister Naqvi also visited the Chinese embassy right away following the suicide assault and gave the Chinese ambassador an update on the specifics of the explosion and the current rescue efforts.
Naqvi said that the people of Pakistan shared equally in the sorrow of their Chinese counterparts, and that the government would take firm action against those responsible for the attack by making sure that the matter was thoroughly investigated.
While stating that the great bilateral relations would not be impacted by such attacks, Naqvi claimed that the adversary had targeted the population of China, Pakistan’s most reliable ally. He conveyed his unwavering support for the relatives of the Chinese nationals who passed away.
