In LAHORE, Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi renewed his support for PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Monday, saying, “He is our leader, and we will stand within every decision,” days after expressing concern over the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

In a meeting with the PTI leader in Lahore, the Punjab chief minister made these comments. Rasikh Elahi, the PML-Q leader, was also present.

Elahi said, “Our unity is stronger than ever.”

Both leaders spoke on a variety of topics during the meeting, including the present political climate and the actions made by the Punjab government to help the province’s residents.

Additionally, they discussed the vote of confidence and the Punjab Assembly’s current session.

According to the PTI leader, the PML-N-led coalition government “destroyed” the economy within a short period of time. He continued, “These so-called experts have utterly failed to handle the economy; inflation is at an all-time high.”

Imran stated in regards to the Climate Resilience Conference that the current leaders were not “ashamed” to travel to Geneva with a sizable entourage in order to “ask for money,” adding that “these stupid rulers will come home empty-handed.”

He stated: “The rulers blinded by the quest for power have produced a storm of inflation,” warning that things would get worse if the economy was not restored right away.

Imran expressed his happiness with the performance of the Punjab government, saying that it was “going in the right direction.”

In the meantime, Elahi informed Imran that the Punjab government had increased the quota of wheat to the mills by double in order to meet the needs of the populace.

“The stupid gang imposed on the nation has made the life of the poor man terrible,” the CM criticised the coalition administration at the Centre.

“These people are occupied with settling the corruption accusations brought against them, rather than concentrating on finding solutions to the issues facing the average person,”

He added that the Punjab government was focused on the welfare of the common man and that the international financial institutions had lost faith in the current administration.

Asad Umar, the secretary general of the PTI, blamed the current PDM government for the nation’s wheat shortage, claiming that former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shahbaz “wrongly ordered” the early release of the commodity from government stocks in May, when open markets were flooded with the staple good. Shahbaz served as chief minister from April 30 to July 26, 2022.

Umar told the media on Monday in Lahore that the PML-N government’s political decision had resulted in a shortage of wheat in the province of Punjab.

The PTI leader noted that no provincial government had ever before released wheat from strategic stores after a month of the fresh crop.

Before the wheat sowing season, Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, reportedly announced a support price for wheat of Rs4,000 per maund.

The announcement of the highest-ever wheat support price by the Sindh government, he said, “has pushed wheat costs in open markets to touch Rs5,000 in different markets.”

Umar claimed that the PDM parties’ political choices contributed to the nation’s food problem.

The top PTI leader insisted that the “imported rulers” were only interested in fabricating charges against the PTI leader.

He emphasised that although the Punjab government was making every effort to contain the wheat flour issue, the people should be aware that it was the duty of the federal government to ensure supply and import of necessities.

Separately, the PTI chairman was visited by the departing British High Commissioner, Christian Turner, to address issues of common interest.
