KARACHI: In response to a petition calling for the permanent appointment of contract healthcare workers hired as Covid vaccinators, SHC has sent letters to the Chief Secretary of Sindh and the Secretary of Health requesting their responses.
The two-member bench chaired by Justice Junaid Ghaffar heard the petitions submitted by temporary workers from various districts in Sindh.
The petitioners’ attorney, Zia Awan Advocate, said that despite the vaccinators’ training and more than three years of service, the province government only publicized new hires while neglecting the experienced vaccinators. It is recommended that the health department make the Covid vaccinators permanent rather than engaging additional contract personnel. The chief secretary and the health secretary received notifications from the court, requiring them to reply within six weeks.
