ISLAMABAD: The Rawalpindi district administration declared on Monday that due to the current state of law and order in the garrison city, all educational institutions will be closed for the ensuing two days.
After PTI supporters took to the streets in response to the attempted assassination of their party president on November 3, the decision to close the schools was made after school vans, ambulances, and members of the general public became trapped at several locations in the twin cities.
To keep the federal capital’s peace and order, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police had to set up detours in various parts of the city. Parents and schoolchildren were forced to spend the day on the highways because protesters blocked the roads just as the students were leaving for the day.
The competent authority has determined that all educational institutions (both public and private) located in Tehsil Rawalpindi exclusively would be closed for two days (November 8 and 11, 2022), according to a notification from Rawalpindi admin.
