RAWALPINDI: On March 31, the Christian population residing in the twin towns of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will fervently celebrate Easter. The community will celebrate Good Friday on March 29.
The Christian community has increased their buying binge in honor of Easter. Additionally, by March 25th, the government has mandated that all institutions pay the salaries of their Christian staff members. The last fast and the Christian community’s moon night are scheduled for March 30.
The Christian community’s purchasing activity in marketplaces and retail centers have peaked as Easter draws near. These days, the Commercial Market, Moti Bazar, Saddar, Raja Bazar, Iqbal Road, and the largest Tench Bhatta Bazar in Asia, are all open till one in the morning.
The Muslim community’s Eidul Fitr shopping will peak after the Christian community has finished shopping. Additionally, Easter and Eidul Fitr are almost here, which will be very beneficial to traders and company owners. To profit from the scenario, retailers have also raised the cost of fake jewelry, shoes, and clothing for women.
Customers’ late-night dashes to the markets have thrown off the city’s traffic schedule. There are major traffic issues in Bohar Bazaar, Saddar Bazaar, Iqbal Road, Raja Bazaar, and Moti Bazaar.
Conversely, Christians have begun to adorn the churches located in the twin towns of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Additionally, there are special prayers.
A comprehensive security strategy for Easter and Eidul Fitr has been established by the police. Every church will have police officers stationed outside. All churches will have CCTV cameras placed until the end of Easter Sunday.
On the eve of Easter, religious leaders Babu Sajid and Rashid Chauhan have called for absolute security in the churches.
