The three ICC World Test Championship matches that Pakistan will play against England in December will each feature a squad of 18 players.

Pakistan has announced an 18-player squad for the three ICC World Test Championship matches that will be played against England in December. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Mohammad Ali have been rewarded for their strong performances in first-class cricket with their first-ever call-ups to play in Test matches.

Abrar, who is twenty-four years old, is playing really well in the current Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Abrar had had taken 43 wickets at an average of 21.95 before the commencement of the final round on Sunday (20 November). He has taken five wickets or more in each of the six matches that his team has played, and he has been an essential cog in the machine that has turned his team into a strong contender for a spot in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final.

Mohammad Ali of Central Punjab has taken 56 wickets over the course of the last two rounds of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, making him the greatest fast bowler in the competition. This first-class season, he has the most wickets of any fast bowler with 24, including two hauls of five wickets each, at a strike rate of 25.54 in only six matches. In the 2021–22 season, he played eight matches and finished with 32 wickets at a strike rate of 22.78, which was the highest for a fast bowler.

Uncapped The other two players to return to the team are Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Zahid Mehmood. Both of these players were previously a part of the Test side for the three matches that were played earlier in the year against Australia.

The following players have been selected for Pakistan’s test series in England: Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice captain and wicketkeeper), Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Salman Ali

Since Pakistan’s previous Test assignment, which took place in Sri Lanka and ended with a 1-1 tie in the two-Test series, the team has made four substitutions in its playing lineup for this upcoming match. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Fawad Alam, and Yasir Shah are the four players that are not a part of the side.

Shaheen was unable to be chosen for the team because he had surgery to remove his appendix on Sunday. Following this procedure, he will need to rest for three to four weeks, and then he will continue his two-week rehabilitation on his right knee.

Earlier this year, Fawad scored a total of 33 runs over the course of four innings over three tests played against Australia. In contrast, he scored 25 runs in his lone test appearance in Sri Lanka. Yasir Shah grabbed nine wickets in Sri Lanka, but he has only managed 14 wickets in seven Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches to this point. Hasan Ali, on the other hand, has taken five wickets in his most recent four Tests, which were played against Australia and Sri Lanka.

Muhammad Wasim: “On behalf of the Pakistan cricket team, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every player who has been chosen to participate in the historic test series against England.” We have chosen these 18 players for the team after carefully considering the current form of the players, the conditions, and the competition.

“Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Ali, and Mohammad Wasim Jnr., as well as Zahid Mehmood, have all been given opportunities as a result of this series. Since Abrar’s first year competing at the first-class level in 2020-21, he has garnered significant attention. Since he is having an excellent season overall, it would be prudent to make him available to Babar Azam so that he can take advantage of the self-assurance and ability of this promising youngster in the future series.

“Zahid is another another bowler who has been taken into consideration. Over the course of his career, he has demonstrated steady growth and has been a member of each succeeding squad.

We have improved our fast bowling options by recruiting the most talented players who were available. There is no question regarding Mohammad Wasim Jnrability .’s in this regard. It is a major advantage for any team that he can move both the new ball and the old ball laterally at a rapid speed.

“Mohammad Ali has demonstrated a great deal of patience and control, and his numbers speak for themselves when it comes to his consistency. Over the course of the past two seasons, he has been our most successful fast bowler in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, accumulating 56 wickets while maintaining an average of 24.

“I have full faith that this team will ensure that the next Test series against England will end in the same fashion as it did when England visited Pakistan for the final time in 2005,” the commentator said.

Rawalpindi (from the 1st to the 5th of December), Multan (from the 9th to the 13th of December), and Karachi will each host one of the three matches that are a part of the ICC World Test Championship (17-21 December).

During the 2021-23 cycle, each of the nine teams will compete in a total of six series, with a split of three at home and three on the road. This will be Pakistan’s fifth series, and their final series will be the two Tests that they play against New Zealand in December 2022 and January 2023. England’s participation in the second iteration of the World Test Championship will come to a close after these three matches (Tests).
