Thursday, Murtaza Solangi, who is acting as the Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, made it clear that the general elections in Pakistan will happen on February 8, 2024. He said that there should be no questions about that.

He told a news gathering that the caretaker government was fully committed to holding free and fair elections on the date set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He was joined by provincial information minister Ahmed Shah.

The government promised again that all of the ECP’s financial, legal, and safety needs would be met, according to Solangi.

He said that the federal government was doing everything it could to make sure that the state and federal governments could talk to each other.

The minister said that the information ministers from the central government and each province would work together to make a plan for the upcoming elections.

He said that the people of Pakistan should be able to choose who would lead the country. He also said that the preamble to the Constitution of Pakistan made it clear that the country would be run by its chosen officials.

Solangi stated, “Making major decisions is the job of the elected parliament and elected government.”
It is the goal of the current government, the minister said, to keep things from getting worse before the general elections.

“We will hand over the country in a better condition to the elected government,” he said.
He said that it was up to ECP to make sure that the polls were free and fair, and that the caretaker government was doing everything it could to help them do that.

When asked a question, the minister said that acting Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar had been to Karachi several times in just two months.

In fact, Solangi said that the prime minister would still go to Karachi today to attend an event at the Stock Exchange.

This minister said that the caretaker prime minister had a history of going to different towns and provinces.

“You have never seen such a friendly prime minister,” he said.

When asked about another question, Solangi said that there had been worries about safety before every election in the past.

He said that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed while running for office in 2008, and that security was also a problem in 2013.

Because of this, he said, there had not been a time in the country when the national security services could not handle things. APP
