A family property disagreement led the Islamabad Police to arrest Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, who used to be the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to Express News.
Sources say that Ilyas was taken to the Margalla Police Station after he was arrested. Police in the capital have also reported that the former prime minister of AJK has been arrested.
According to sources, Ilyas was arrested on charges of reportedly taking family property and taking part in a shooting.
At the same time, lawyers and people who back Ilyas have gathered outside of the police station, and party workers have started to gather outside of his home.
On May 1, a case was filed against Ilyas for trying to take Centaurus Mall’s main buildings and important papers.
Colonel (retd) Tipu Sultan, who is in charge of security at The Centaurus Mall, filed the First Information Report (FIR). It named Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Muhammad Ali, Anil Sultan, Rizwan, and other people who have not been named as suspects.
The police report says that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and a group of 20 to 25 armed people broke into office 1708 at Centaurus Mall with the aim to take control of the building. But the alert security guards stopped them before they could do anything. It is said that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas made death threats against Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Sardar Dr. Rashid Ilyas Khan, and their coworkers.
The police report also said that these people physically assaulted the security officer. When they heard about what happened, they went to the scene and found Sardar Tanveer Ilyas firing at Colonel (retd) Tipu Sultan, but his bullet barely missed him.
