Alter, which is the successor to TikTok Facemoji, will provide game developers the chance to create their own avatar systems.

Alter, an AI avatar firm that provides a tech stack for developers to build avatar systems was bought by Google.

According to TechCrunch, the business was originally known as Facemoji, and it raised $3 million from a seed round last year that was led by Play Ventures and included Twitter and Roosh Ventures.

Alter wanted to give game developers an opportunity to create their avatar systems without having to plug into many networks after Apple’s Memoji.

Similar to the 3D-style avatars in the TikTok app, the startup provided a real-time 3D avatar system with SDK (software development kits) that included capabilities like face motion capture.

After the company’s spokesman revealed the acquisition occurred two months ago, Google is vigorously competing against the well-known China-based social platform with greater content.
