Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has once more attacked Gen. (ret.) Qamar Javed Bajwa, alleging that the former army chief “hired” Hussain Haqqani, a former Pakistani ambassador to Washington, to campaign against him (Imran) in the US.

The PTI leader claimed in a speech to a small group of media on Sunday in Lahore that Haqqani had been given the assignment to campaign against “me while boosting Gen [retd] Qamar.” Additionally, he asserted that Gen. (ret.) Qamar’s setup was “still operating in the organisation.”

The PTI chairman emphasised that new general elections were the only way to address the nation’s current political unrest and economic problems, and that the establishment could play a significant role in rescuing the nation from its current state of anarchy.

Imran emphasised, “The army and all political parties must be on the same page if the country is to advance. He emphasised that Gen (retd) Qamar’s opposition to responsibility in the nation was the reason for the deterioration in their relationship.

Imran recalled their last encounter and how Gen (retd) Qamar called him a “playboy,” to which he had responded, “Yes, I had been a playboy.”

In response to a query, Imran stated that Gen (retd) Qamar had stabbed him in the back while professing support with him.

The PTI chairman informed the journalists that the no-trust resolution submitted by the collation government against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had been given to the PTI’s three members of the Punjab Assembly.

“In a similar vein, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) sections are coming together, and leaders of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) have joined the PPP [to compete with the PTI in the upcoming election]. However, the nation won’t benefit from this. The only elections that should be held today should be free and fair, he emphasised.

Imran said that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja used to follow Gen (retd) Qamar’s instructions as part of his rant against the former army commander. Even Gen (ret) Qamar was in charge of the electronic voting machine issue. He asserted that Gen (retd) Qamar supported the CEC wholeheartedly.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, according to the PTI chairman, was taking advantage of the CEC (PML-N).

Imran responded, “I have never discussed the assignment of the Chief Election Commissioner’s wife,” to a different query.

Imran emphasised that there was no advantage to returning to the National Assembly in response to the government’s recommendation. Going back to the parliament will accomplish nothing, he declared. “Let there be fair elections and a lasting government in the nation.”

Imran Bhutto Zardari criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, claiming that his PTI administration had a great rapport with the current Afghan government while Bilawal had no knowledge of the neighbouring nation.

Imran referred to Pakistan’s unexpected rise in terrorism as “an inside job.” “Selling terrorism can bring in money. Musharraf also made money selling terrorism, but 80,000 people died as a result, he claimed, adding that he constantly spoke out against Waziristan operations since “the military operation” never solved any problems.

Imran responded that he hadn’t been in touch with Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for a very long time when asked if they had ever met. “Good to know about Chaudhry Nisar’s political gathering last week,” he added.

Imran commented on the selection of Najam Sethi as the PCB Management Committee’s chairman, saying, “He [Sethi] did not know the ABC of cricket. To accommodate Sethi, the PCB constitution was altered. Unfortunately, he has previously destroyed cricket and will do so again.

Imran, a former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, emphasised that Ramiz Raja, the PCB’s previous chairman, led the team to the world cup final. “Ramiz is a man with education. He is familiar with cricket. What is Najam Sethi aware of? Imran inquired.

Drive of protest

The PTI, meanwhile, began its rallies against the nation’s poor economic position, protracted power and gas shortages, and growing prices on Sunday. The party organised protests in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi to call for a decrease in the cost of necessities.

Senior PTI leaders like Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, and Hammad Azhar took part in the demonstrations in Lahore. At the main rally’s conclusion, the demonstrators screamed anti-government chants in Yateem Khana Chowk.

“The nation has proven that they desire real freedom,” Dr. Yasmin remarked in response to the rally attendees. The entire nation is behind Imran Khan.

Demanding that he “see all the crowd” at the rallies, she lambasted Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Iqbal stated: “The imported government made it impossible for the people to exist after the PTI government was overthrown through a conspiracy. The current administration was installed through a foreign plan, and it carries out their directives.

Azhar declared that no more decisions will be made “behind closed doors” since the country had decided against the current government.
