Quetta protests after gas outage.
To express their rage, demonstrators burned tyres and blocked the main Samungli road.
QUETTA: Protests against unexpected gas load-shedding are currently taking place in Quetta and other areas of Balochistan.
People from different sections of the city organised a protest march outside the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) office in Quetta on Monday afternoon. To express their rage, the demonstrators blocked traffic on the key Samungli route and set tyres on fire.
Muhammad Akram, a local of the city’s Killi Deba neighbourhood, bemoaned the lack of gas supply during the chilly weather. He said that the region’s dry, chilly weather was to blame for the illnesses affecting mothers and children.
The demonstrators yelled anti-SSGC administration chants and demanded that the business guarantee the continuation of the gas supply. Mr. Akram threatened, “We will step up our protest against the gas business.”
The demonstrators’ barricade of the road caused problems for the people. They had congregated in front of the SSGC’s office. However, no representative bargained with the demonstrators. The closure of the route caused extensive lines of cars to form on both sides of the street.
Extreme cold has gripped Quetta, Kalat, Ziarat, Mastung, Pishin, and other areas of Balochistan. These places have experienced unforeseen and protracted load shedding for hours at a time. Consumer issues have gotten worse due to the dry, chilly weather.
