[ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the appropriate authorities instructions to make sure that the money is distributed right away to the worthy individuals who have enrolled for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) during the holy month of Ramadan.
Shehbaz instructed the officials to conduct a national awareness campaign so that the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package and the BISP could reach an increasing number of eligible individuals, while calling a high-level review meeting on the subject.
The gathering was informed that the BISP had increased the quarterly payment to Rs10,500. Senator Ishaq Dar, Ahad Cheema, Shaza Fatima, Rumina Khurshid, and other senior officials were present.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Shehbaz gave the officials instructions to make sure that the deserving individuals were paid. He particularly mandated that an extra Rs 2,000 per family be given to the Balochistani recipients.
Additionally, the Ramazan Relief Package for lower and middle-class households would help around 39.6 million families, it was disclosed at the meeting. According to officials, the package included a subsidy of Rs7.5 billion, which was greater than the nation’s rate of inflation.
The officials also mentioned that 19 different food items were being supplied at a price below market value, including flour, lentils, ghee, edible oil, sugar, and drinks. In addition, assistance was provided to individuals who were having registration issues, and a comprehensive mechanism for handling grievances had been established.
