ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) condemned on Sunday what it called a “nefarious campaign” against the outgoing Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa. According to the ISPR, figures that were misleading and exaggerated were spread on social media about the assets that Gen Bajwa and his family possessed.

In a statement, the military’s media wing called claims made on social media that certain assets were created by Gen. Bajwa’s family during his six-year tenure as the army chief “completely false” and “blatant lies.” The claims were made in the context of a debate that took place on social media. It went on to say that the numbers were misleading and that they had been inflated based on assumptions.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an evil campaign against Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has begun. On social media, false information about the wealth of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his family has been shared, according to the report.

The statement went on to say that “a certain group has very cleverly and dishonestly attributed the assets of the father of Gen Bajwa’s daughter-in-law and her family to the army chief and his family.” It also refuted the claims that were made on social media by calling them “blatant lies and based on malice.”

The statement went on to say that the army chief and his family regularly file their tax returns and that “like every citizen, the army chief and his family are accountable to the tax authorities for their assets.” It went on to say that all of Gen. Bajwa’s assets, along with those of his wife and family, were properly declared in the records of the Federal Board of Revenue.
