On Friday, Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah in the Islamabad High Court registrar for a jail trial granted Bushra Bibi’s request that she not be required to be at the wedding during the Iddat period in the case involving PTI founder Imran Khan.

During the hearing, Rizwan Abbasi, the petitioner’s lawyer, reminded the judge that he was required to write a letter to the IHC in order to proceed with a jail trial. The accused must be given copies of the challan, the IHC registrar must be notified, and the charge will be formulated seven days subsequent to the distribution of the challan copies. In order to meet the legal obligations, you must notify the Islamabad High Court.

The court thereafter adjourned for recess.

Just as the hearing resumed, Usman Gul, Bushra’s lawyer, arrived in court to announce that a jail trial had been ordered. “Bail bonds have been prepared, and Bushra Bibi has been sent to jail.”

The accused must appear before the court, the judge said. It is appropriate for her to appear when it is known that the jail does not have a trial.

Bushra Bibi’s life will be in risk while coming to the court, according to the counsel.

Why would the jail officials travel there when the judge had already declared there was no need to rush things? The courtroom was also deserted.

Bushra was required by the court to make an individual appearance.

The court once again adjourned.

Even after the hearing started, Bushra still hadn’t shown up.

During the process of applying for Bushra’s exemption from presence, advocate Gul mentioned that the court had already ordered a jail trial during the prior hearing.

“Bushra Bibi arrived at the jail first thing in the morning, but the court didn’t hear about it until later.”

The attorney stated that Bushra could not be reached because of the jammers installed in the prison.

The motion for exemption from appearance was granted, and the court rescheduled the case for January 2.
