ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has declared that it will launch a campaign against the purported election tampering on February 8.
Aslam Ghauri, the leader of JUI-F, stated in a statement that meetings at all party levels will take place during the movement’s initial phase.
The meetings would be addressed by party president Maulana Fazlur Rehman, according to Ghauri. The first of these assemblies is scheduled to happen in Islamabad on Thursday (today).
“The rigging in these elections has put 2018’s rigging to shame,” stated the and stated that “mockery has been made of the public mandate” .
demonstrations against election fraud
Prior to this, on February 16, JUI-F Sindh held a protest demonstration against the suspected electoral fraud in front of the Provincial Election Commission office in Karachi.
Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro, the secretary general of JUI-F Sindh, spoke before the assembly and announced that the organization has chosen to begin a national campaign against “doctored election results.”
He said that Sindh had experienced the biggest electoral fraud, citing Wadera Shahi’s involvement in the appointments of Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs), as well as constituency delimitations that favored the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
On election day, he ridiculed the bureaucracy, the state apparatus, and the Sindh Election Commission, claiming that they were powerless against the influential waderas in Sindh.
Speaking to the assembly, Maulana Soomro emphasized that the army, Rangers, and police had not been sent to Sindh’s sensitive areas.
On February 17, laborers from Sukkur and Ghotki stopped roadways leading from Sukkur, and laborers from Kashmore and Ghotki barricaded roads leading from Kashmore. Additionally, the border between Punjab and Sindh was closed indefinitely. He insisted on the results of PS-02 Panu Aqil, PS-22 Thul, and NA-191 Kashmore being made available in accordance with Form 45.
Fazl denounces “rigged” election outcomes
Prior to this, Fazl pulled a political prank by calling out the “rigged” election results and inviting PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to join him in the opposition benches rather than pursuing his goals in government.
The JUI-F would not take the results of the elections at face value. It was claimed by him that the party would initiate statewide demonstrations against purported political meddling by “anti-Islamic forces.”
Fazl voiced doubts about the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) function during a news conference, claiming it had been “dubious from day one.”
He said, “JUI-F will play its role in the parliament and will attend it with reservations, but our central committee has rejected the election results and expressed reservations about the role of the ECP.”
