The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) praised anchor Imran Riaz Khan’s “bravery… for raising his voice for human rights without worrying for his life” by awarding him lifetime membership on Wednesday in Lahore.
The admission of a journalist as a member of a lawyers’ association is a first.
Suppressing individuals is one thing, but changing their minds is an impossible task, Riaz told the LBA.
He remarked that decision-making does not occur in offices but rather amongst the people.
Riaz became the first journalist to ever be awarded lifetime membership, according to LBA president Rana Intizar Hussain.
After IO fails to establish a case, Imran Riaz’s pre-arrest bail is confirmed.
“The judicial system of Pakistan has completely failed in dispensing justice to the public,” argued Hussain.
He went on to say that the SC and LHC chief justices should retire “over their failure to ensure justice for the people.”
Following an abduction that lasted over four months, Riaz was finally able to return home on September 25.
With the following statement: “Journalist/anchor Mr. Imran Riaz Khan has been safely recovered,” the Sialkot police verified the story on social networking platform X. His loved ones have taken him home.
“I have brought back my prince by God’s special blessing, grace, and mercy,” wrote his lawyer Ashfaq in a separate X post.
Also confirming Imran’s return was the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which stated: “He is one of many names suffering from enforced disappearances.”
