RAWALPINDI: On Saturday, funeral services were held for the Pakistan Army personnel who gave their lives in a gunfight with terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 10.
Two servicemen, Sepoy Muhammad Afzal (29 years old, from the Bhimber district in Azad Kashmir) and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain (27 years old, from the Mansehra district), were put to rest with full military honors in their respective districts, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, the funeral for the fallen service members was attended by numerous top military leaders, troops, relatives of the martyrs, and townspeople.
“The media wing of the Pakistani military has made it clear that they will not rest until they have eradicated the terrorist threat from their homeland,” they said.
Two terrorists, Aftab alias Malang, and Masood Shah, were successfully neutralised when army personnel engaged the terrorists’ location in a fire battle that took place on January 10.
Both of these people were deeply involved in terrorist attacks against security personnel and were known to have targeted innocent people for murder. Additionally, bombs, weapons, and ammo were retrieved from their possession.
Tragically, amid the heavy exchange of fire, the courageous soldiers involved in the operation, Sepoy Muhammad Afzal and Sepoy Ibrar Hussain, accepted death, according to the ISPR.
It had previously stated, “Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
