A resolution to grant a civic honor to Arshad Nadeem, the javelin thrower who created history by winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics last night, was unanimously passed by the National Assembly (NA) on Friday.
The resolution, which was made during the NA session, highlighted Nadeem’s outstanding performance in the javelin throw competition. With a throw of 92.97 meters, he broke the Olympic record and won Pakistan’s first gold medal at the Games in forty years.
The assembly emphasized that Nadeem’s journey to achievement was not hindered by a lack of resources and praised him for his perseverance and dedication.
The resolution also suggested that Nadeem receive a civil award from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in appreciation of his remarkable achievement.
With all votes in favor, the motion was approved, demonstrating the pride the country felt in Nadeem’s historic win at the Olympics in Paris.
The Senate will host a luncheon in honor of Arshad Nadeem to recognize his accomplishment, which has made the entire country proud, according to Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan Nasar.
Additionally, he said that rewards will be given to the top athlete as a thank you.
While praising Nadeem for his outstanding achievement, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar underlined that the government is dedicated to offering all essential assistance to advance sports in the nation. He urged Pakistan’s youngsters to find motivation in Nadeem’s momentous achievement.
In addition, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari congratulated the Olympic gold medallist during Friday’s National Assembly session.
