The NA session has been postponed till the 31st of this month.
The ruling alliance is attempting to gain additional time in regard to the resignations of PTI officials.
ISLAMABAD: In an effort to purchase more time to put off accepting the resignations of the PTI MNAs, the National Assembly session has been rescheduled once more. It will now take place on January 31 rather than January 27.
According to a notification, the NA speaker has used his power to push back the lower house’s session from January 27 to January 31.
Due to a short circuit in Parliament House, the Senate session was suspended on Sunday.
After a lot of work, the authorities were able to fix the problem that had led to the short-circuit.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had personally overseen the repair work and given instructions to guarantee that such a defect did not recur.
Now both the upper and lower houses would proceed as scheduled.
A complete electrical audit was performed over a three-day period using delicate devices and communal wiring.
This activity was designed to guarantee that there will be no further electrical issues in the House of Representatives.
In order to preserve human lives, the NA speaker and Senate chairman had stated that it was essential to use every tool at their disposal to correct any electrical issues in parliament.
The PTI announced its return to the lower house so that it could reclaim the positions of leader of the opposition and parliamentary party a day early, and it came to light that the NA speaker had accepted the resignations of 43 additional PTI MNAs.
The two PTI MNAs who adhered to party policy in the NA, Sardar Talib Naki and Prince Nawaz Ali, were exempt due to their leave requests.
Prior to this, the PTI leaders requested that their resignations be withdrawn in an email to the speaker.
They also told the ECP that their choice had been communicated to the NA secretariat and the speaker.
From July of last year, the resignations of the PTI MNAs were authorised in four phases: 11 in the first phase, 35 in each of the second and third phases, and 43 in the fourth.
In April 2022, a vote of confidence resulted in the removal of Imran Khan as prime minister, prompting the legislators to quit from the lower chamber of parliament in protest.
The email and WhatsApp demands made on January 23 were unlawful, according to NA sources, because the speaker had already accepted and forwarded to the ECP the resignations of the remaining 43 members on January 22.
They said that while the resignations were accepted on January 22, the withdrawal requests made on January 23 were useless.
They now total 124 with the confirmation of 43 further resignations, including 123 PTI MNAs and Sheikh Rashid, the leader of the Awami Muslim League.
