Picocells, a low-cost and small-cell technology that ensures connectivity, can now be installed aboard aeroplanes thanks to recent laws in the European Union that made it possible.
Because of recent legislation passed by the European Union, airlines based in EU member states are now authorised to offer in-flight wireless 4G and 5G connectivity for all passengers.
The European Union (EU) will enable the deployment of the services in order to facilitate the enforcement of the legislation by introducing specific frequencies for in-flight cell phone connectivity.
“Picocells,” a low-cost and small-cell technology that can accommodate a limited number of people on the network, will need to be installed on the flights in order to meet the requirements.
All of the passengers will be able to use the network’s in-flight internet services, which will allow them to send and receive phone calls, text messages, and data in a manner analogous to that which is possible on the ground.
The European Union (EU) hopes that the expansion of its market’s business landscape will be bolstered by the introduction of a new in-flight service.
