OGDCL claims that oil deposits were found in Lockhart as a result of aggressive exploration tactics.
Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the largest oil and gas exploration company in Pakistan, stated on Thursday that its exploratory well, Toot Deep-1 Well, in the Punjabi area of Attock, had discovered oil deposits.
Oil from the Lockhart formation was found at the Toot Deep-I Well by OGDCL, the Toot Mining Lease’s operator and the sole shareholder with a working interest.
According to the company’s notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the Lockhart Formation successfully tested oil at a rate of 882 barrels per day (bpd) and gas at a rate of 0.93 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 600 pounds per square inch (psi) at 32/64″ choke size (PSX).
On December 25, 2020, the Toot Deep-1 Well was spudded. It was drilled into the Tobra Formation to a total depth of 5,545 meters.
According to the OGDCL notification, “the most recent oil discovery further expands the hydrocarbon play area in the Pothohar basin,” adding that the company has used aggressive exploration techniques that have led to hydrocarbon discoveries.
