On Friday, Omar Ayub Khan, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, denounced police for “unleashing a reign of terror on peaceful protestors” on May 9. He vowed that nothing would stop them from pursuing their fight for supremacy of the
The legal system and the constitution.
At a press conference, Omar declared that the Punjabi and federal fascist administrations were on crutches and that their time was running up. He predicted that soon a government with a public mandate will seize power and rule the nation.
He claimed that on May 9, the PTI held rallies all throughout the nation, but that the peaceful protestors were brutally attacked by the Punjab police, who even filed formal complaints against him, Barrister Gohar, Shoaib Shaheen, and Amir Mughal despite the fact that none of them had broken any flower pots.
He denounced the use of force by the police against nonviolent demonstrators who were merely expressing their constitutional right to demonstrate, as well as their attempts to apprehend the PTI chairman. “In Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, where IG Punjab Dr. Usman has destroyed the department, police gardi has reached its pinnacle,” he claimed.
According to the PTI secretary general, on May 9, direct firing by security forces resulted in the martyrdom of at least 16 unarmed innocent people and serious injuries to hundreds more. However, no security officers were hurt because the PTI protestors were peaceful and unarmed.
Additionally, he stated that although they tried their best, they were unable to stop them and that the party would carry on with its nonviolent campaign to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and establish the rule of law until Pakistan was genuinely independent and the law and the Constitution held ultimate authority.
Regarding his meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9, Omar said he conveyed a message of optimism to the country, promising to fight for the rule of law till their dying breath.
Khan made it plain that the people had already voted on February 8, 2024, in favor of the PTI and Imran Khan, and that the fascist government with its stolen mandate would not endure long. Eventually, the truth will come to light.
According to Omar, when government agencies became involved in politics, there was no rule of law, and when there was no foreign investment in the nation, unemployment resulted.
He said that Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other party officials were involved in false and contrived cases, and that if the proper procedures were followed, all of these individuals would be immediately exonerated of these false accusations.
Omar talked about meeting with the US envoy and how they told him that they wanted the country to be ruled by the constitution and that the US was Pakistan’s largest trading partner. They also wanted to continue expanding trade cooperation because it would help open up markets for the products of Pakistani companies and help create employment opportunities.
The leaders of the opposition vehemently condemned the police for using force on peaceful demonstrators from Jamaat-e-Islami.
