PAC CALLS NAB CHAIRMAN TO DISSCUSS CORRUPTION INVESTIGATIONS

In relation to pending graft cases, the PAC has summoned the NAB chairman.
The highest parliamentary body will write a letter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) head, requesting information on ongoing graft cases that are worth billions of rupees.

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday called for a detailed briefing on the pending graft cases worth billions of rupees from the chief of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The meeting of the highest parliamentary body was presided over by Noor Alam Khan, who is also the head of the committee that he chairs.

The chairman of the most prominent anti-corruption body was asked to appear before the PAC, and the committee’s secretary was given instructions to prepare a letter inviting him to attend the meeting and provide further information about ongoing corruption investigations.

Earlier on in the course of the meeting, the committee went over the audit complaints that were raised with regard to the ministry for overseas Pakistanis and human resource development for the 2019-20 fiscal year.

PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan took notice of the non-availability of gas connections to the households in the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Housing Society, saying that residents have been kept deprived of gas supply for 30 years. Khan said that residents have been kept deprived of gas supply for 30 years.

After identifying the individuals responsible for the negligent behavior in relation to the gas supply, the committee then requested a report on the matter.

The chairman also emphasized that low-income workers had the right to participate in the OPF housing society, and he pointed out that the price of gas was also relatively inexpensive when the offshore housing scheme was developed.

In the meantime, the committee expressed its displeasure over the delay in convening a meeting of the Departmental Audit Committee (DAC) and warned that if the meeting was not held on time in the future, deductions would be made from the salary of the concerned secretary. The committee has stated that the responsible minister would also be required to appear if the secretary is unable to fulfil their job.
