The Foreign Office said in a statement on Friday that after a meeting of a joint working group (JWG) on counterterrorism and security challenges, Pakistan and Russia agreed to work together more to fight terrorism. The statement emphasized that both countries would gain from this cooperation.

The meeting was where the two sides talked about different ways that people become radicalized, how terrorist ideas spread, and how ICTs are used for terrorist goals, the statement said.

The 10th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on “Combating International Terrorism and Other Challenges to Security” took place on Thursday. The Foreign Office says that Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Haider Shah and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin co-chaired the meeting.

Both sides agreed to work together to stop terrorists from getting money to fund their activities and in other important areas of security. At the meeting, both Pakistan and Russia confirmed their plans to keep working together to fight terrorism.

The Foreign Office said that the two countries talked about the global and regional terrorist threats, with a focus on the situations in Afghanistan, Central and South Asia, and North Africa. They also said that they understood how important their partnership was for keeping the world and the region safe.

The conversation made it clear how complicated terrorism is and how important it is to stay alert. It also said that both sides talked about their national plans to fight terrorists and shared their experiences and the best ways to do things.

The meeting was part of regular talks between Pakistan and Russia as part of their work together to fight terrorists. The FO said that talks about improving cooperation in international settings like the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) were especially helpful.
