ISLAMABAD—Pakistan was very worried about the situation in Gaza and with the Palestinian people. They asked the UN Security Council (UNSC) to act right away to restore peace in the surrounding area.
At the weekly press conference, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, said that Pakistan was against the ongoing killing of Palestinians in Gaza and that Israel, as an occupying power, must follow the fourth Geneva Convention (GCIV) on protecting civilians in areas of armed conflict.
In addition, the spokesman said that the caretaker prime minister spoke out against the violence in Gaza while he was in Tashkent for an Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) meeting. Baloch said that the prime minister stressed how important it was to follow UN decisions to solve the Palestinian problem.
The Kashmir Issue
The spokesperson brought up the problem of Kashmir and said that India should respect the right to self-determination of Kashmiris and that Pakistan would continue to support the oppressed people in the valley through moral and diplomatic means.
The FO called attention to the fact that Kashmiris were killed without a trial earlier this week and demanded that those guilty be brought to justice.
After the attack on Israel by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on October 7, Israel launched a brutal air war against Gaza, bombing hospitals, mosques, civilian homes, and other buildings without caring about international law.
Over the past few months, Israeli strikes have killed at least 10,800 civilians, with at least 40% of them being children.
