Pakistan’s capital: Hyderabad
Peace, development, and ending the cycle of poverty depend on accessible, high-quality education, according to Jane Marriott CMG OBE, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, who made the statement on Wednesday.
She spoke about the equal rights of girls and boys to pursue their dreams through education in a video message she gave on the occasion of the International Day of Education.
About 26 million children in Pakistan do not attend school, and even among those who do, the quality of education is low, a worrying reality that Marriott brought to light.
According to her, the United Kingdom has helped around 5.8 million children in Pakistan get into good schools since 2014. The continuation of this journey with the government and development partners is something I am delighted about, she continued.
An excellent education should be available to every child, she emphasized. On this, the International Day of Education, let us pledge to work together to achieve this goal.
