After the attack on Israel by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on October 7, Israel launched a brutal air war against Gaza, bombing hospitals, mosques, civilian homes, and other buildings without caring about international law.

Over the past few months, Israeli strikes have killed at least 10,800 civilians, with at least 40% of them being children.

Saudi Arabia called an emergency meeting of the OIC to talk about the situation because things were getting worse.

After the prime minister arrived at King Khalid International Airport earlier in the day, Deputy Governor Riyadh Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz met him. There was also Pakistan’s minister, Ahmed Farooq, as well as top Saudi and Pakistani officials.

The prime minister will be in Riyadh for three days on official business. During that time, he will attend an emergency meeting where the Israeli attacks on Gaza will be discussed.

Besides that, he will meet with foreign heads of state and government from other countries.

In response to the worsening military situation in Gaza, the OIC’s executive committee met an extra meeting in Saudi Arabia on October 18.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia took turns running the meeting.

It was agreed that the meeting of the council of foreign ministers would be held to talk about how to stop the killing in Gaza.

But since then, things have gotten even worse, which is why the OIC had to call the meeting.
